Advent Resources 2025

Advent is a joyous season of preparation for Jesus' arrival. As Catholics we strive to spend these days together in prayer, penance and hope. Multiple resources are available for both adults & children at the north entrance of church to assist you in your journey through Advent.
Adults:
* Bishop Robert Barron's Advent Gospel: Reflections is a small book with each day's gospel, a short reflection by Bishop Barron and a journaling space for personal reflections.
Fr. Mark Toups' Rejoice: Includes daily liturgical readings that help us prepare for each Sunday Gospel reading during Advent.  This study is also supported by weekly videos available on YouTube.  You can utilize it individually or join one of two small groups (Mondays at 7:00 pm or Fridays at 9:00 am).
Please stop by the north entrance after Masses this weekend to get questions answered, to pick up one of the books and to sign up for a Rejoice small group if you would like to participate. We will have a basket available for a free will offering to go toward the cost of the books.
Children:
Advent Video on Formed |Brother Francis: The Days of Advent. There is also a companion guide on Formed as well! To sign up for Formed, enter your name/email, our parish name and location to access the FREE subscription.
Jotham’s Journey: A Storybook for Advent. There will be examples (not for purchase) of this book available at the information desk if you are interested and would like to buy the book for your family. The book will be available at our parish library for checkout during Advent. This book is best suited for older children.

Our Lady of Guadalupe Presentation

To help prepare our hearts for Christmas in the Advent season, we will be having a presentation on the Virgin of Guadalupe Miraculous Tilma & Juan Diego!
This presentation will be given by John Rukavina, a fellow Knight of Columbus! Mr. Rukavina has given this presentation previously at St. Mary's Immaculate Conception in Hammond.
Topics to be covered: bible connections, the story of the Tilma and Juan Diego, the Aztecs, Catholic Spain, and the Great Evangelization.
When: December 3rd | 6:30pm-8:00pm.

Sharing Families Program

St. Bridget Parish will again be sponsoring families in our community for Christmas gifts. We have committed to helping 40 families this year. How can you help?

1. Purchase a gift for a child. The gift tree will soon be in the lobby (the weekend of November 22nd & 23rd) and will have ornaments listing the gifts that need to be purchased. Gifts are due to the church by Sunday, December 7th at noon. The gift should be unwrapped and clearly labeled with family number and child information.
2. Purchase a gift card. The gift card tree will be in Fellowship Hall with ornaments listing the card requested. Many of these cards are available through
our SCRIP program.
3. Purchase a grocery card. Each family will receive a $100 grocery gift card. With 40 families to sponsor, we will need help with this task that will add up to $4,000! These requests can also be found on the gift card tree in Fellowship Hall.
4. Make a monetary donation. All monetary donations will be used to purchase SCRIP cards needed for shopping and grocery cards. Cash is preferred and should be placed in an envelope labeled with your name and SHARING FAMILIES. Checks will be accepted and should be made payable to St. Bridget SCRIP with SHARING FAMILIES written in
the memo line. If you have any questions contact the church office.

Blest Art

Blest Art at St. Bridget Parish on Saturday & Sunday: December 20th & December 21st after ALL Masses!
Blest Art will be visiting our parish on behalf of the Christian families in Bethlehem, Palestine. Their mission is to support those families in the Holy Land.
For centuries, the Christians in and around Bethlehem have earned a living by carving religious olive wood art to sell to visiting pilgrims. Fewer pilgrims are journeying to the Holy Land today, making it difficult for those Christians to support their families. As a result, there has been a dramatic rise in Christian emigration from the Holy Land. Now, less than 1% of the population in the Holy Land are Christians.
Blest Art Inc helps the struggling Christian families of Bethlehem by marketing their artwork in the United States. Due to this work many Christian families maintain their livelihood and their ancestral homes in the land of our Lord.
When Blest Art visits our parish, they will have hand-carved nativity sets, statues, crosses, rosaries, and many other pieces of beautiful olive wood art. They  kindly invite you to visit their display and to consider purchasing a piece of art from the Holy Land. In doing so, you will help support the many families who depend on this form or art for their living. Your purchase will make a difference in the lives of many Christian families.
Blest Art gladly accept cash, checks, and all major credit cards. Please note that they do not ask for, nor do they accept, any donations.

SCRIP

SCRIP is a fundraising program to benefit St. Bridget Church and School while shopping and is celebrating more than 30 years in the parish.  Parish and school families purchase SCRIP gift cards at face value.  St. Bridget purchases gift cards from local vendors and a national fundraising company at a discounted value and credits the difference, or “rebates”, to an approved St. Bridget account of the buyer’s choice.   Just regularly using SCRIP for everyday purchases can easily generate funds to help with parish and school expenses.   SCRIP isn’t just for gifts!   Make it part of your family’s budget.   Please consider joining or re-energizing your purchases today!  Contact the Parish Office with any questions.
