Parents and other responsible adults want to protect children from those who might harm them, but no child can be supervised 24 hours a day. St. Bridget’s Faith Formation program will be offering training designed to help your child avoid vulnerable situations and resist abuse. The training will first, help your child recognize his or her value as a person created in the image and likeness of God, as someone who deserves to be loved and treated with respect, and secondly teach your child to be a person who will show respect to others. It will also teach your child age-appropriate ways he or she can reduce the likelihood of being sexually abused and ways to get help from others if needed.

 

This training is part of a program called “Steps to a Safe Environment” – our parish’s and diocese’s response to the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops’ Charter for the Protection of Children and Youth: Promise to Protect, Pledge to Heal.

 

**The dates for the 2011 sessions are as follows:

 

ALL Grades: Wednesday, November 30, 2011 @ 6:30
Grades 6-8:  Wednesday, November 30, 2011 @ 3:00 or 6:30
