“Whatever you did for one of these least brothers of mine, you did for me.” (Matt 25:40)
Each summer we try to grow as disciples by reaching out to our brothers and sisters in need through a week long mission trip. We have been to Shawnee, OK; Lake Charles, LA; Rushford, MN; Thunder Bay, ON, Canada; Lame Deer, MT; and Kansas City, KS. These trips are open to all high school youth, and registration and fundraising begin as early as November for youth and for adult chaperones. You can find out more information by calling or e-mailing Tessa.
2012 Summer Mission Trip:
Standing Rock Reservation, South Dakota
June 23-30
On this trip our youth and adult chaperones will spend the week working with children and doing home repair projects on the reservation through YouthWorks! Space is limited to 5 adult chaperones and 20 youth (grade 8 completed through newly graduated in spring of 2012). You can sign up by contacting Tessa and paying a deposit of $150. Fundraising and an informational meeting will begin in early February, 2012.
2011 Summer Mission Trip:
A group of 25 missionaries from St. Bridget went to a Catholic Heart Work Camp in Omaha Nebraska July 10-16, 2011. We joined over 200 other youth that came from 5 other states. We began and ended each day with praise and worship. In between, we divided into 40 work teams and put our faith into action by:
-
stocking food pantry shelves,
-
building 3 homes with the Habitat for Humanity,
-
painting, weeding, pruning, and cleaning at elderly people’s homes,
-
and running VBS type programs for youth living at the homeless shelter.
We had a lot of fun and made a lot of new friends, but most of all, we grew closer to Jesus, and felt the power of His love as we saw our hard work give HOPE to the needy.
We would like to say “thank you” to all of you who supported us through fundraising or prayers. Without you, we would never have had this life changing experience. *** Thank you! ***
We created a video slideshow of our journey. Take a few minutes to watch it!
