For Catholics, the Sacrament of Marriage, or Holy Matrimony, is a public sign that one gives oneself totally to this other person. It is also a public statement about God: the loving union of husband and wife speaks of family values and also God's values.

 

Marriage Information

In order to allow sufficient time to carry out the various steps of the marriage preparation program, it is necessary for a couple to contact their parish priest as soon as they make the decision to marry, and at least six months prior to the anticipated time of their wedding. The parish priest or deacon then has the responsibility to assess their readiness through personal contact, a pre-marital inventory, and a weekend engaged couple’s retreat and to help plan the wedding ceremony.
