The Eucharistic Minister group is a very visual group during Mass. This group has the privilege of serving the body and blood of Christ to fellow parishioners. Faithful to the Lord's command to his disciples to “take and eat," "take and drink," the congregation completes the Eucharistic action by eating and drinking together the elements consecrated during the celebration. Many in the Eucharistic Minister group feel it a great privilege to be able to participate in the mass in this manner. And some members of our parish and Eucharistic Minister group take the body of Christ to those of our parish that are shut-ins or nursing-home bound.
Joining the Group
The requirement to join this group is that you must be a confirmed and practicing Catholic. All new Eucharistic Ministers are trained by the coordinators of the group. Father submits their names to the Bishop for acceptance and new Eucharistic Ministers are presented with a certificate. They are then added to the schedule.
Time Commitment
You fill out a questionnaire that includes which mass you would like to serve at. There are teams A, B and C which rotate weekly. Therefore, you will be required to be at your scheduled mass every three weeks. If you are unable to make it to your scheduled time, you are responsible for getting a substitute to cover your spot.
Meetings
The group meets once a year in the church, usually in September, for an hour.
