Confirmation is a Catholic Sacrament of mature Christian commitment and a deepening of baptismal gifts. Like Baptism and Eucharist, it is a Sacrament of Initiation for Catholics and a Sacrament of faith in God's fidelity to us.
Adult Confirmation
Who should receive Conformation? Every baptized and non-confirmed person, other wise, the process of Christian initiation would not be complete. Preparation of Confirmation should include a period of catechesis or teaching on the Holy Spirit and the meaning of the Spirit's gifts. This preparation time should also help awaken those who are seeking a sense of belonging to the universal church and to the local parish. The Lord calls those of us confirmed in the faith to work for peace and social justice, to speak out for the innocent, life, to act honestly and to share our faith.
St. Bridget's offers six sessions leading up to Pentecost Sunday. Please contact Father Harris at (715)425-1879 ext 103 or by email for any questions or concerns.
Youth Confirmation
Youth in grade 10 or older are invited to prepare for the sacrament of confirmation. Preparation is a two-year process which involves meeting in a small group of about 8-12 youth two times per month and large group gathering once each month. The small groups meet in the home of the leader, or a student’s home, and study from the “Confirmed in a Faithful Community” series. During this time the youth also attend an overnight retreat, participate in a service activity, and participate in sponsor and candidate sessions. The preparation process concludes with a personal interview with the youth minister. The Sacrament of Confirmation is celebrated in the spring.
