Adult Faith Formation

Human growth and development is a life-long process. Therefore, ongoing faith development and spiritual formation of adults is vital to the spiritual life of the parish. Just as we spend time and energy on growing intellectually and professionally, it is also important to make our religious development an important aspect of our lives. St. Bridget Parish offers a variety of opportunities for faith formation and spiritual growth. We hope you find something that fills your needs and feeds your spirit; the growth of each person enhances that of the entire body of Christ.

Take a look below at a few of our faith formation opportunities for adults.

There are also many other wonderful Faith Enrichment opportunities on our Spirituality & Stewardship page.

AN OVERVIEW OF THE PROGRAMS

A Biblical Walk Through the Mass – Based on the revised translation of the Mass, this five-part series will take you on an exciting tour of Liturgy as it explores the Biblical roots of the words and gestures we experience at Mass and explains their profound significance.  See why we say what we say and do what we do every week at Mass.  The words and gestures will be seen in a new light, giving new life to the liturgical experience.

The Jesuit Guide to (Almost) Everything is a best-selling and award-winning introduction to the spiritual life (which, as we will learn, is all of life).  The humorous title is just the beginning of our walk with Fr. Jim Martin, who believes that joy is inseparable from the spiritual life.  Fr. Jim, a Jesuit priest, is an editor at America Magazine. Session 1:   Chapters 1-3: Ignatian spirituality; The six paths (how people seek God – or don’t); Desire and the spiritual life.

SOLANUS, a drama about the life of Fr. Solanus Casey:  This is a funny and inspiring play about a Capuchin Monk who grew up on a Wisconsin farm in the late 1800's.  During the Depression, he worked in Detroit as a porter and soup kitchen coordinator, giving counsel to thousands of people in need.  A cast of 25 brings this story to life.  You won't want to miss this family-friendly production!

Staying in Love – Is it possible to fall in love and stay in love with someone for your entire life?  In this four-part series, Andy Stanley discusses how to not only stay married but to stay in love in the marriage.

Islam in Myth and Reality – Owais Bayunus, former President of the Islamic Center of Minnesota, will discuss the basic fundamentals of Islam, life of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh), Women in Islam, the role of Muslims in Current World affairs, and the difference in what Islam is actually about, as opposed to what is portrayed in the media and local press.

Rediscover Catholicism – In this study of Matthew Kelly’s best seller, you will discover that Catholicism is “not a lifeless set of rules and regulations, but a way of life designed by God to help each person reach his or her full potential.”

Nefarious: Merchant of Souls – WARNING This video contains material that is graphic in nature and may be disturbing.  Viewer discretion is advised.  From the very first scene, Nefarious ushers you into the nightmare of sex slavery that hundreds of thousands experience every day.  You’ll see where slaves are sold, work and are confined.  From recruiting to liberation, and everything in between, Nefarious uncovers the underworld of sex slavery.
