Grief Links

When Families Grieve
This powerful and heartwarming 60-minute show by PBS, featuring the Sesame Street Muppets, provides families in the military and in the general public a valuable service by making the courageous struggles of parents and children visible, while sharing strategies that have helped them cope with grief. You can watch it online here.

How Children Mourn
Treating death as taboo makes it more difficult for the 2 million children who have lost a parent to deal with grief. This video with Katie Couric is a nice resource. Click here.
Pregnancy Helpline
The Pregnancy Helpline provides medical assistance, support, and other resources for women experiencing unplanned pregnancies.  For more information, click here or call 715-425-8539.

Compassionate Friends
Compassionate Friends is a wonderful group that provides assistance to parents and families who have lost children and siblings. Whether your family has had a child die (at any age, from any cause) or you are trying to help those who have gone through this life-altering experience, the Compassionate Friends exists to provide friendship, understanding, and hope to those going through the natural grieving process.

If you have lost a child of any age, you will find support and valuable information by clicking here.

If you would like to participate in a support group or get more information, click here.

If you have ever wanted to help those who have lost a child but were stymied as to what to do or say, you will find meaningful answers and suggestions in the brochure by clicking here.

Families dealing with the particular pain of a child’s suicide may find help and consolation in the materials by clicking here.

Lastly, all too often the grief of brothers and sisters who have lost a sibling goes unaddressed. If you are a young person who has lost a brother or sister, look at the materials here.

Adults, too, who have lost a sibling experience a particular grief. The one who shared their life most intimately and for the longest period of time is gone. With that absence go one’s memories and sense of self. If you are an adult grieving the loss of a sibling, please click here.

Lastly, our parish staff is always here to help you as you experience the loss of a loved one. Please contact me if I can be of help.
