The St. Bridget 7th and 8th grade mission trip is a wonderful experience. We went to Rhinelander, WI to help out in several different ways in the community. Once all of the church groups have gotten there, we begin by playing games to get to know each other, along with activities and skits to get to know our faith more. We went to mass at the end of the first day, and that was followed by dinner and a gathering of all of us in a small chapel to meditate.
Day two started with another mass. We then get split up into 6 equal groups and those different groups were assigned to 6 different places to help out the community. There are two different thrift stores, three different disabled homes, and one food pantry. We leave at about 9:30am and get back around 2:30pm. We finish out our day by having dinner theater. We all get 45 minutes with our groups to come up with a way to present what we did at out destination. Once the 45 minutes are up we sit down to eat, during our meal we watch the presentations. Then we make the trek back to St. Bridget.
I would recommend mission trips to anyone able to go. It’s sure to open your mind on a few different aspects of your faith, just as it did for all 11 of us who went this year. Several of the 11 went the year before and enjoyed it so much that we came back again!
